Rolling Thunder First Amendment Demonstration Run
Where and When:

North Pentagon Parking Lot, Arlington, VA. Opens 7:00 am on the Sunday before the Monday observing Memorial Day. The 2010 run takes place on Sunday, May 30th. The run departs the parking lot at noon and takes several hours(from start to finish)to complete. The area police have many streets restricted so the only entry is via the North Pentagon parking lot. Who is welcome:
All motorcyclists who wish to participate in this run to bring awareness to the POW/MIA issue and demonstrate respect for our troops and patriotism for our country. No membership is required.
What to bring:
What you need to be comfortable for several hours. Take the weather into consideration. (For example: sunscreen, bottled water, something to eat, rain poncho)
What to expect:
Several hundred thousand motorcyclists participate so it takes many hours to assemble and then converge on the streets for the run. But experiencing the thunder from the bikes and the roar of the crowd as you cross the Memorial Bridge has been described by most as something that moves them to tears. What's available:
Portable Toilet facilities and limited food and drink are available in the rally area in the North Pentagon parking lot. When you reach the end of the run you will be directed to the staging area in front of the Lincoln Memorial, which features prominent speakers and live music. On the other side of Constitution Avenue on 22nd Street, you will find “Thunder Alley”, the official vendor area for Rolling Thunder. Thunder Alley presents various vendors featuring merchandise that includes the official Rolling Thunder T-Shirts, unique leather goods, riding glasses, pins and patches, etc. There are also food vendors and portable toilet facilities are available.

Can I participate in the run in a car or truck?
Due to space limitations, only motorcycles are permitted.
Do you need to be an experienced motorcyclist?
It is highly recommended that participants operating a motorcycle have experience. There are hundreds of thousands of motorcycles riding in close proximity through the streets of Washington, DC. They converge on a grassy area for parking. Riders must be prepared for sudden stops and periods of long idling.
Do I need membership to participate in Rolling Thunder?
No. Rolling Thunder Washington, DC is open to all motorcyclists who wish to bring awareness to the POW/MIA issue and demonstrate respect for our troops and patriotism for our country.
